Interesting people are interested.
It's a family mantra. Hanging in a tribe of folks familiar with neurodiversity, this became my advice for making friends. For people like me, folks whose brains reside somewhere more compelling than the main floor in the house of human thought, this is one of my most useful social tools. If you want people to think you're interesting, the first thing to do is be interested in them.
Get out of your own way. Resist the need to prove you are interesting yourself.
It seems backwards. We think by talking about ourselves we'll raise our level on the Cool-o-Meter, but I've found, through many decades of living, that people tend to like people who like them first.
As a songwriter I'll tell you a secret. If someone asks to hear a song again, they've given me a huge compliment. Who wouldn't feel encouraged by the words, "Let's hear it again."? The same theory applies in conversation, usually with the words, "Tell me more."
Want people to come away thinking you're interesting?
Be interested.
Interesting people are interested.

This is so very true and your gift blesses ALL OUR LIVES. THANK YOU!!
